Bloons Tower Defense 4 Walkthrough
Bloons Tower Defense 4 is the fourth installment of the Bloons Tower Defense series of games, which is an offshoot of the popular Flash game, Bloons. This iterations of the tower defense game features vastly improves graphics, a revamped upgrade system, nine new tracks, sandbox mode, and the never-ending apocalypse mode!
Like its predecessors, the objective of Bloons Tower Defense 4 is to stop balloons from reaching the end of the track. If a balloon reaches the end of the track, you will lose a life. If you lose all of your lives, then you will lose the game. To win in this tower defense game, you must survive for a given number of waves (fifty on easy, sixty on medium, and seventy-five on hard). If you choose to play in apocalypse mode, however, you will be pitted against unlimited waves and must survive for as long as possible.
Unlike Bloons Tower Defense 3, towers in Bloons Tower Defense 4 only have one upgrade path. Both upgrade paths have been blended into one, meaning that you do not have to make a choice as to which upgrade should come first, but it also means that you do not have a choice. You may find yourself spending more money trying to get the upgrade that you want, but this new system is friendlier for casual players. Upgraded towers have a chevron adjacent to them dependent upon their current upgrade level in this tower defense game.
In order to succeed in Bloons Tower Defense 4, you must still strategically place your towers efficiently. Placing your towers where they can target multiple parts of the road will allow you to use fewer towers to pop more balloons, thus saving you precious money to buy more towers and upgrades. Bloons Tower Defense 4 also lets you get directly into the action! This tower defense game retains some of the items of its predecessors such as road spikes, monkey glue, and pineapple bombs, but also adds the dartling gun! The dartling gun is a Gatling gun that shoots darts wherever you are pointing your mouse. This gun is somewhat inaccurate and very pricey, but it is a great investment that can really turn the tide of this tower defense game in your favor!
If you just have to place road spikes, I suggest using the spike factory, a unit new to Bloons Tower Defense 4. The spike factory will automatically lay spikes randomly on the path. You may also wish to upgrade the spike factory to deploy spikes faster, deploy double the amount of spikes, and deploy white-hot spikes that can even pop frozen balloons! These spikes are deployed for free, so you only have to pay the initial cost of the unit (and any upgrades that you purchase for it). These spikes still disappear at the end of each wave, however.
Bloons Tower Defense 4 is a wonderful addition to the Bloons Tower Defense series of strategy games. If you are a fan of the previous games of this tower defense game series, then you will enjoy the new features that have been added. If you found previous iterations of the game to be too slow or boring, then you may still enjoy Bloons Tower Defense 4 for its faster-paced gameplay and greater variety of units and challenges!
